Product description: azeti’s Remote Asset Management software helps to monitor and manage operational technology (e.g. generators, HVAC, batteries, etc.) in remote locations like cell towers, secondary substations, bank branches or manufacturing plants. This intelligence-at-the-edge functionality helps to optimize and ensure smooth site operations as well as cuts down data traffic by over 98% between the remote site and the central location. azeti’s Remote Asset Management software is built for large infrastructures with 20,000+ distributed locations and allows to push configurations and updates to all sites at once.

Thorsten Schäfer

Since September 2009, Thorsten Schäfer has been a board member at azeti Network AG. He is responsible for Sales, Marketing, Channel Management and Business Development.

In February 2009, Thorsten Schäfer joined Earlybird Venture Capital as a venture partner. He has substantial entrepreneurial experience and possesses an extensive network in the software and IoT sector.
Amongst others, he was founder and CEO of abaXX Technology AG. After the successful trade sale at abaXX AG to Jan Baans Cordys B.V., NL in 2007 Thorsten, in his role as CEO and COO, managed the integration of abaXX into the Cordys Group in 2008.


Prior to joining Cordys, Thorsten was CTO at abaXX Technology AG between 1999 and 2002, and thereafter the CEO responsible for marketing, business development, product development, customer services and finance. From 1996 until 1999 he was global lead of BROKAT Infosystems AG’s project business as Senior Vice President, Professional Services, leading a team of 300 engineers to support the $13bn IPO of Brokat.
Following his studies of business operations and control engineering at the University of Stuttgart, he was a scientific assistant at the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft where he broadened his comprehensive knowledge in sensors and robotics.

Dirk Sommerfeld

At the beginning of 1990, the computer scientist Dirk Sommerfeld was already present on the Internet. He soon realized the future importance of the medium. During the early phases of the Web, he researched relevant technologies and became one of the first Germans to create a gateway to the Internet, which at that time was largely focused on America. In 1995, Dirk began to create an infrastructure that would enable German business customers to benefit from the internet as a commercial platform.

The computer scientist Dirk Sommerfeld was already present on the internet in early 1990. Soon he realised the future importance of the medium. In 1995, Dirk began to create an infrastructure that should enable German business customers to benefit from the internet as an economic platform.
Dirk is considered a pioneer and a visionary with respect to the detection of new markets and technologies, a reputation that is reinforced by extensive experience in the network sector as well as training and further education in the security sector.
At azeti Networks AG Dirk, as a board member, is responsible for all technical fields, finance and HR. With his knowledge he supports our partners in R&D.

Jose Bustamante

Vice President Global Sales & Marketing

Jose Bustamante serves as Vice President Sales & Marketing for Azeti. In this role, he leads the azeti sales and marketing teams to  deliver innovative and practical M2M solutions to partners, distributors and system integrators worldwide.

Jose came to azeti in 2010 from QME Software, a Software Solutions and Consultancy start-up that he co-funded and run as General Manager in Dubai. He was responsible for driving the day-to-day solutions and sales operational areas, including directing the operations and strategies of the sales, marketing and product teams.

Earlier in his career, Jose was a Project Manager at Fujitsu Services in Spain. In 2003, he joined Quest Software as Business Development Manager EMEA in London, delivering value to Partners, Distributors and Large Corporations throughout Europe and the Middle East region.

Jose holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from the University of Lincoln, Master in Project Management from the University La Salle/Ramon Llull and an Executive MBA from the London Business School.

Richard Brown

Vice President, EMEA & APAC

Richard Brown has general management responsibility for EMEA & APAC including the international expansion strategy throughout these regions to deliver against azeti revenue and costs targets.

Richard joined azeti from Rackspace Hosting where he was responsible for International Business Development. Prior to joining Rackspace Richard successfully founded & exited a cloud start-up business, and previously held senior positions within world class technology and Telecoms companies such as British Telecom.

Richard holds a BSc in Computer Information Systems from the University of London, and an MSc in Real Estate Investment & Finance from CASS business school.

Andrea Mantovani

Senior Director Partner Sales, North America

He is responsible for corporate development and  channel partnerships to expand the azeti business in North America.
